πVA VA VROOM!π
This weekend was a fantastic kick off to my season with a Steampunk themed wedding which incorporated Harley Davidson motorbikes and the colour purple!
Getting to know this cracking pair has been marvellous and it was a joy to craft a ceremony to begin their wedding celebrations. What I love about these two is that they live their lives on their own terms with a sense of freedom that has been cultivated over a long time helping each other to grow together.
Life hasnβt always been easy for these two. But in finding each other, theyβve given both a space to heal and to rediscover what love really means. In the words of the great Albus Dumbledore – βHappiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.β Had to throw that in there as the bride is a huge Harry Potter fan (me too!).
The setting could not have been more perfect – underneath the beams of an ancient barn with their flower festooned Harley bikes as a backdrop. Thinking they were just coming for a knees up, their family and friends gathered around to see them exchange personal vows before being hand fasted with the help of a few close friends and their brilliant son. A Jumping the Broom ritual brought the ceremony to a close.
Then everyone got down to an evening of music and a delicious buffet provided by the wonderfully hilarious ladies of Valley Buffets (I hope our paths will cross again soon!). Oh and did I mention the magical purple Steampunk cake?! Made by the bride (with enough whiskey to fuel a bagpipe!) and decorated by a friend.
Flowers were provided by the amazing Alison of Grace + Ray Flowers. Alison decorated the motorbikes and made the stunning bouquets in the bride’s favourite colour purple. We all met at the Pretty + Punk Wedding Fair in Avington last October so it was great to see all our ideas come to fruition.
Plus – I always love an excuse to go the extra mile and dress up for the theme! I really enjoyed adding some steampunk bling to a top hat and goggles as well as decorating the broom and vow booklets.
Full of lots of laughter and tears, everyone was touched by the coming together of a very special family! I couldnβt be more honoured to have been a part of such a special moment in time. A very memorable evening and the best kick off to 2022!
