What is a Highly Personalised Wedding Ceremony?

Registrars and Celebrants both say they offer a personalised wedding ceremony or renewal of vows.

HOWEVER…there is a big difference between the two!

Let’s break it down:

When you book yours truly to do your wedding, I look at personalising the heck out of your ceremony. The more personalised a ceremony, the more unique and memorable it is to you and your guests.

Here are just a few of the ways I typically personalise a ceremony:

❤️ During my welcome remarks I’ll be sure to thank whoever walked up the aisle with you by name and remember and honour significant people in your lives whether your wedding party, parent, relatives, friends, your furbabies and all those in pulling together your big day.

❤️ We’ll incorporate symbolic elements such as a toast to dearly departed relatives and friends or a Handfasting using fabric from heirloom wedding dresses.

❤️ I will take time to get to know you, your love story, funny stories, annoying habits, what inspires you about your partner, your hopes and dreams – and more. So much so that guests often mistake me for a life long friend because the stories I share are so personal to you.

❤️ I might even ask your family and friends for their marriage advice in advance as a surprise for you on the day!

❤️ Personal vows specially written for/by you

Every single element of your ceremony is written just for you from scratch.

With a celebrant ceremony you won’t find any lists of formulaic vows to choose from, any repetitive passages and absolutely no restrictions on time, place or content.

The choice, dear reader, is yours.

You can choose a ceremony with some basic personalisation, formulaic vows you pick from a list, a reading or two a certificate signing.

OR

A ceremony that has been personalised in every way imaginable, with your love story, your hopes and dreams for the future included, your nearest and dearest honoured and included by name and symbolic elements and rituals that have been specially crafted for you.

I know which one I’d choose (and I wish I had when we got married 17 years ago!)
