Hidden Hampshire Wedding Venue – The Barn at Avingdon

Nestled on the banks of the River Itchen in Hampshire is one of its best hidden secrets!

The Barn at Avingdon is a relatively new venue offering a blank canvas for weddings and events in a relaxed atmosphere.

This past weekend I had the pleasure of being shown around the property by the fabulous Beth who is passionate about all things weddings AND championing the work of celebrants.

The barn building is a big open plan space that gives you a huge amount of scope to put dress in your own style. There is no limit to the imagination with such an impressive blank canvas!

In addition, there is a kitchen on site as well as a bar, and fire pit. And a big plus are the fabulous toilets! Good loos are a must for events!

The beauty of this site is that you can have your wedding ceremony in a couple of different spaces. 

Inside the barn there is scope to flip the same space to accommodate a party afterwards. Or you can have your ceremony outdoors by the river!

After a long chat in the barn Beth took me outside to see their outdoor ceremony space. The outdoor area is a HUGE winner. I’ll be doing a ceremony here later this summer in a gorgeous wooded glade right by the crystal clear waters of the river. The only problem is that I may just want to go for a swim afterwards!

This unlicensed venue allows you to have the celebrant-led ceremony of your dreams! Take care of the legals with your local Registration Office, then use Avingdon as the place where you celebrate your wedding in style!

Unlike many venues, at Avingdon you hire the space for the whole week so you can make holiday of it with your friends and family. You are not going to pushed out the next day so you can really take advantage of the time with your nearest and dearest.

The venue also comes with gorgeous self-catering accommodation for up to 12 people and a camping field for those who wish to indulge in some glamping!

In addition you also get the services of Beth.

And let me tell you…Beth will become your new BFF.

As your On The Day Co-ordinator it is Beth’s responsibility to ensure that the entire day runs smoothly and that the venue is beautifully styled for you. 

The one thing I regret from our wedding – many moons ago – is that we did not have someone co-ordinate the day for us. It would have saved a huge amount of upheaval and given me the opportunity to enjoy more of the day rather than worrying what I’d forgotten!

You have complete control over all the planning then Beth will jump on board and look after everything on your big day so that you can just enjoy the time with your family and friends.
