A Cotswold Wedding Full of Heart, Intentionality + Joy for Matt + Denry

I first met Matt and Denry at the first Lo + Behold Another Wedding Fair back in 2022. I spotted them across a crowded room and something inside me simply said, you’re meant to work with these two! We hit it off immediately. Easy conversation. Shared humour. That feeling of familiarity that settles in far quicker than you’d expect. Their heartfelt Cotswold wedding at The Pear Tree in Purton was already forming in their minds.

From that very first conversation, it was clear that Matt and Denry were intentional people. They weren’t interested in rushing. They wanted to take their time, to plan their wedding thoughtfully over two to three years, making sure every single aspect felt meaningful and true to them. That’s why they booked me so far in advance.

When couples book me that early, it’s a gift. It opens the door to something deeper than just ceremony planning. It allows time for relationships to form, for trust to grow, and for a wedding ceremony to be shaped gently and collaboratively rather than hurriedly assembled. With Matt and Denry, that time made all the difference.

One of the things I’m most passionate about in my work is the level of support I offer my couples. Unlimited support. As much face-to-face time as they want. Space to talk things through properly, to explore ideas, to circle back to things months later and say, actually, I’ve been thinking about this.

With Matt and Denry, that support became something genuinely special. Over the course of their planning journey, we didn’t just exchange emails and hop on the occasional call. We spent real time together. There were evenings at their house, sitting around talking long after we’d technically finished planning. There was champagne quaffed at mine. There were conversations about love and what marriage truly means to them.

And every time I visited their home, there were cuddles with their utterly adorable pup, who very quickly became part of the whole process. Those moments matter. They’re where connection is built. They’re where ceremonies stop feeling like something written about a couple and start feeling like something crafted with them.

Every visit also came with a glimpse into Denry’s latest creative project for the wedding. A suit mid-construction. A dress being refined. A new idea taking shape since the last time I’d been there. He’d proudly share his progress, talk through his vision, and you could see the joy and care he poured into every stitch. Truly, an atelier or designer in the making if I ever did see one.

By the time their wedding day arrived, it didn’t feel like I was turning up as a supplier. It felt like I was standing there as an old friend.

One of the most powerful things about Matt and Denry’s wedding was the strength of their community. They are held by an extraordinary group of people. A strong, loyal friend group and loving families who have supported them individually and as a couple through thick and thin.

You could feel that history in the space. These weren’t surface-level relationships. These were people who had shown up in hard times as well as joyful ones. People who knew the full story. People who had walked alongside them, cheered them on, picked them up when needed and celebrated every milestone.

Every single person present felt familiar. A safe harbour. A fan of their love. There were no strangers, just people who were deeply invested in Matt and Denry and the life they are building together. That kind of collective support is powerful, and it infused the entire day with warmth and ease.

The Pear Tree in Purton was the perfect setting for this kind of celebration. Elegant without being stiff. Relaxed without losing its sense of occasion. Last summer, it was glowing. Warm sunshine, blue skies, and the gentle hum of anticipation that settles in just before something meaningful begins.

Matt and Denry had already taken care of the legal registration of their marriage a couple of months before the wedding. That decision gave them complete freedom on the day itself. There were no legal constraints, no required wording, no box-ticking. The ceremony could be entirely about love, and commitment in their own words.

It meant we could focus fully on what mattered most to them. Telling their story. Honouring their relationships. Creating a ceremony that felt alive and  personal.

Matt and Denry’s creative brilliance flowed through every part of the day. Denry made the suits worn for the ceremony, including his incredible gold cape, which caught the light beautifully and felt both bold and elegant. He also made all the outfits for their sizeable wedding court. All dressed in garments crafted with intention, care and a serious amount of skill.

These outfits weren’t about uniformity or aesthetics alone. They were about honouring the people who have stood by Matt and Denry through their lives and inviting them to stand in support during the ceremony. It was a visual expression of community, creativity and love.

The ceremony began with separate entrances, each one very personal. Matt entered to Natasha Bedingfield’s Pocketful of Sunshine, his karaoke anthem and a perfect reflection of his joyful, playful spirit. The energy lifted instantly!

Denry followed to You’re Still the One, a song that speaks to his love for Matt, but also holds a connection to his mum.

From the very start, the ceremony invited everyone present to truly arrive. A paparazzi moment with some photo-taking before phones were put away. A collective pause. A shared understanding that this moment mattered.

Readings were shared by close friends. Ever Increasing Circles spoke to love as something expansive and inclusive. You Are the Bubbles captured joy, connection and the magic of choosing each other in everyday moments. Lovely reflections of real relationships.

Their love story, which began in the unlikely setting of Basingstoke station, was told with warmth, humour and honesty. From that first glance in a burger van queue to Instagram messages, family holidays and a gloriously chaotic proposal at Durdle Door, it was clear their relationship is built on laughter, curiosity and deep care.

Before exchanging vows, we invited all their guests to warm their wedding rings. But this wasn’t just any ring warming! The rings were housed in what can only be described as the blingiest ring container imaginable. A bejewelled egg! Fabergé, eat your heart out!

As the egg was passed from hand to hand, guests were invited to hold it, to warm the rings with their love and silently offer intentions for Matt and Denry’s marriage. By the time the rings returned, they carried the collective strength, hope and support of everyone present.

Their vows were the heart of the ceremony. Personal, emotional and spoken through tears by both of them. Matt spoke of oceans crossed, of love as a safe harbour, of choosing each other again and again. Denry spoke of warmth, pride, growth and becoming better together.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the place. Including theirs.

After the ceremony, Matt and Denry were showered with confetti as they walked back down the aisle absolutely beaming! The rest of the day unfolded with the same care and intention that had shaped everything else.

At dinner, each guest found a handwritten thank you note waiting for them at their place. Individually written. Thoughtfully worded. A small but incredibly powerful gesture. The time and care Matt and Denry took with every single aspect of their day was genuinely beautiful.

Speeches followed, full of love, laughter and shared history. And then, as the evening rolled on the drinks flowed and the dance floor beckoned.

Of course, Matt and Denry had a quick outfit change, emerging in slick suits ready to party for the rest of the night.

What I love most about celebrant ceremonies is the freedom they offer. The ability to create something deeply personal, meaningful and alive. Matt and Denry embraced that freedom fully.

Their Pear Tree Purton wedding was intentional, creative, emotional and joyful. A celebration shaped by time, trust and community. A ceremony surrounded by people who knew them, loved them and had their backs through everything.

Standing there with them truly felt like being part of something shared. And that is the kind of wedding, and the kind of love, that stays with you long after the last song has played.

Congratulations Matt and Denry!

Miranda truly made our wedding unforgettable. She became our “wedding auntie,” guiding us through every moment and helping us feel calm, prepared, and completely present. She brought so much emotion, warmth, and magic to our ceremony, making it feel deeply personal and perfectly us. Honestly, we couldn’t recommend Miranda enough. She was everything we didn’t even realise we needed.”
